And Now Presenting India's First Men's fashion week

Posted in

If you thought fashion was only for women, you have some quick rethinking to do. On Saturday Delhi kicks-tarted the first Men's fashion week in the country with Ravi Bajaj Dandy's march collection starting the event.
The fashion industry has come a long way and the recent trends are a testimony to that fact. Van Heusen is the official title sponsor of the event and the glitterati of the fashion world have welcomed this venture.
The opening day of the Van Heusen India Men's Week also saw collections of three newcomers -- Aslam Khan, Rajvi Mohan and Himmat Singh Jaipur. The event grabbed many eyeballs and the industry people think this is a great move. “This platform will work wonders for male models. When I was just a model I really wanted something like this to come up but at that time, we didn’t have any such chance. So I am sure that now things will be much better for models who are just starting their careers as they will have many more opportunities,”
model Muzammil Ibrahim says. The fashion week was a long overdue event to a growing and lucrative market often overshadowed by women clothes.
Van Huesen India Men's Fashion Week kicked off in the capital New Delhi with hopes to capture the interest of India's millions of young men, many of whom have not gone beyond the traditional cotton and terylene pants and shirt. The event promises a galaxy of star faces and if sources are to be believed India’s most eligible bachelor — Rahul Gandhi — is likely to turn up with sister and brother-in-law Priyanka and Robert Vadra for designer friend, Ashish Soni’s Grand Finale show. Boxer Vijender Singh, Olympic Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra and actor Zayed Khan are also expected to turn up.
The event is definitely a landmark event in our already booming fashion industry and this time the men get to strut themselves while the women can give the catcalls and whistles.
