Since the time I was a child I have been fascinated by the art of story telling. I would watch every year the Ramayana being enacted as a part of the Ramrila celebrations, coinciding with Dusherra.
The fact that the entire Ramayana was told verbally, intrigued me. Much later in life during a stint as a High School teacher in Bangalore, I did a workshop with world renowned Afro American Story teller- Mama Nomusa. Since then I have been telling stories to School children and those in the neighborhood.
Being a dancer, I infuse most of my sessions with dance Mudras and usually bring in a song to make it a more interesting session. Every session includes at least one Indian story and one world story.
'Francesca and Lion' is a story I have written. Story telling is a natural extension of being a writer too for me.

I think you have forgotten that you are telling the story to small kids, the style is more like the kitty party of rich and lazy housewives, sorry for being blunt. You have to be more friendly and less westernized and cosmetic, it is not the age to listen to Belafonte!
